Railway Gauging Data Solution
Network Rail spans 15,904 route km and 245,000 structures, serving 2,567 stations on a tightly-constrained infrastructure, built since the 1830s to different standards.
Cordel won a competitive tender (against the incumbent supplier of the National Gauging Database of 20 years’ standing) to design and deliver a new, improved “Railway Gauging Data Solution” (RGDS).
This 6.5 year contract is in 2 phases:
a. We have 18 months working with NR Engineering and Asset Information Services teams to create a solution which will radically transform the Currency, Accuracy and Completeness of clearance data for all Structures, Platforms etc across the entire network.
Cordel’s automation and data cleansing will facilitate NR’s delivery of stringent regulatory KPIs. Cordel’s robust open IT architecture will enable new API interfaces and provide future-proofing for the railway.
To date, we have successfully delivered our first milestone ahead of schedule and we are on-target to develop our Detailed Solution Design.
b. Once implemented (in July 2023), we are contracted to deliver and support the RGDS, initially for 5 years.
