What is Clearance Management? Clearance management is the analysis of load throw, mounting position, track geometry, dynamic behaviour and survey scan information to obtain a distance between the vehicle and infrastructure that allows safe operation.
To put it simply, by understanding your network correctly, and applying clearance assessments, you can make your railroad more efficient, safer and desirable.
Using on-vehicle LiDAR equipment, we can collect accurate scan data
Turning data into actionable information using machine-learning and AI insights
Using internal asset registers to maintain survey records
Creating databases of your survey data for viewing, editing and updating
Including editing functionality to maintain a synchronized source of truth
Manipulate incorrect data to ensure high quality record-keeping
Assess non-standard vehicles against infrastructure for clearance outputs
Design changes to track position while maintaining positive clearances
Redesign assets while improving or maintaining clearances
View clearances across the entire network in a single glance
Focus on location, route, territory or site
Monitoring changes in clearances over time, overlaid against maintenance routines
Yes, Cordel engineers are able to convert 3rd party LiDAR data into clearance surveys in most situations. Please get in touch to understand the minimum data we require
It is possible to assess clearances to infrastructure, clearances between passing vehicles and platform gap clearances. Clearances can be assessed for individual locations, route sections or entire regions.
Cordel use Machine Learning and AI to automatically process and classify survey data. Please read our case study where we go into this in more detail
Yes, Not only is it possible to assess standard vehicles (such as Plates or Gauges), but it is also possible to assess non-standard shapes and other types of railway traffic such as high and wide loads.
Cordel manufacture our own LiDAR equipment
Users will have to be able to specify the shapes of non-standard loads and where they need assessing. The software has access to survey data as processed by Cordel. Settings are normally configured for different networks.
Survey recorded are managed and stored on the cloud. This provides instant access to your organisation and seamless integration with the D/Gauge clearance software.
The software includes features to adjust track alignments or infrastructure modifications.
